Recapping the Cubs-Cardinals Series in “Triple Play”
The Chicago Cubs entered St. Louis on Friday with a 2 ½ game division lead over the Cardinals on Friday and left with a 3 1/2 game lead on Sunday. With just a 29-58 record, Busch Stadium has been a nightmare for the Northsiders over the last 10 years. Recently, they have been able to turn that nightmare into somewhat of a dream. |

It is soon going to be time for Jim Hendry to make a move to put the Chicago Cubs over the top. The move isn't needed on the offensive side of the ball; it is needed in the pitching staff. The big question though, throughout Cubbie land is do we want to make a run for a guy like Sabathia(too late) or Harden, or can you settle for a veteran like Randy Wolf or Greg Maddux? The answer is simple, the Cubs need to go big or go home! Right now this Cubs team has all the bells and whistles needed to make a run for a championship. If dumping your farm system is what you’re going to have to do to put you over the top, then by all means sell the farm, chickens and all. |

After years of being the Rodney Dangerfield of baseball, it looks like the Chicago Cubs are finally getting a little respect. The Cubs are sending seven players to Yankee Stadium for the all-star game this year, and deservingly so. True, there’s a couple of players that benefited by being popular and having the fans vote them in as starters (*cough* Soriano and Fukudome), but that comes with the territory. The fans selected who they wanted to see and therefore their wish is the MLB’s command. |

The Cubs got some much needed all around help on the road Wednesday night in their 6-5 win over the San Francisco Giants. Mike Fontenot blasted a solo home run in the top of the eighth to give the Cubs a 6-5 lead and eventually the win. Ryan Dempster threw 6 innings of solid baseball and was in line for his first win on the road since April 16, 2005. |
