The Cubs will play this season with the 100 year drought lingering over their heads. Along with their World Series woes the Cubs have not made the playoffs in back-to-back seasons since that fateful 1908 season. Before they get ready to play in late October they will have to prepare for a tough season and a tough division.

In a twist of the old competitive adage (“If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em”), fantasy sports allow one to abide by the new saying, “If you can’t be ‘em, draft ‘em”.
Fantasy baseball, above all other fantasy leagues, gives the average sports fan the chance to see their team perform each day. Unlike fantasy football where you only get to see your players perform once a week, fantasy basketball where teams play at most 4 games a week, and fantasy hockey where you actually pay attention to the sport (sorry hockey, you’re doing better but your time hasn’t come yet), baseball players are out on the field about six days a week. This creates daily stat changes and league leaders. |

Mark Cuban, the owner of the Dallas Mavericks, has indicated that he still is interested in owning the Cubs and on Monday in an interview was quoted as saying,
"Everybody thinks I'm going to be on the sidelines, in the dugout, jumping up and down. That's not where I'll be," he said on the Mike North Morning Show on radio station WSCR."When I went to the Cubs game a couple weeks ago, I sat in the bleachers, and I'll have a seat marked out for me and my friends. We'll be out in the right-field bleachers -- that's the best place to watch a game." |
