The Chicago Fire opened their home schedule tonight against defending Eastern Conference Champs, New England. What many thought would be a close game between bitter rivals (myself included), proved to be quite a different story. Cuauhtemoc Blanco saves the Chicago Fire from a loss, in the 91st minute, by scoring a game tying goal after Bakary Soumare had one earlier in the half. Real Salt Lake outplayed the Fire throughout the entire game, but in the end the Fire managed to walk away with a tie. |

What could have been the goalie of the future for the Chicago Fire, has apparently decided to not sign a contract. According to Luis Arroyave, a deal could not be reached between Dominic Cervi and the Chicago Fire. This situation could leave Chicago in a tough situation. Jon Busch, the small 5ft 10 vetern goalie, will be starting in front of the net even if Cervi had signed, but will Jon Busch be enough stop opponents from scoring on the Fire? |
