July 28, 2008 – The Chicago Rush won the 2008 Arena Football League Commissioner’s Award, given to the league’s Organization of the Year, and Rush president/general manager Mike Polisky was named the league’s Executive of the Year, the AFL announced Friday night at its annual awards banquet. |

The dream of a second Arena Football League title died hard for the Chicago Rush after absorbing a 58-41 upset at the hands of the upstart Grand Rapids Rampage Sunday afternoon at Allstate Arena. Despite coming into the AFL divisional playoff game with a 7-10 record, Grand Rapids played a tough, physical game and dictated the game’s pace throughout.

Late in the final quarter, with the ball on the twenty-five yard line, Rampage quarterback James MacPherson puts his hands in between the legs of his center Brandon Eaton. With less than a minute to go on the clock and his team down by four, MacPherson knows his team's fate lies squarely on his shoulders. Before the day is done, he can become the conquering hero stealing a win from the home team, or crawl back to Michigan with his tail between his legs.
