GENEVA, IL – The Kane County Cougars walked off with a win for the second time in a week on Tuesday afternoon when Corey Brown drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth to bring in Shane Keough for a 3-2 triumph over the South Bend Silver Hawks in front of 6,044 fans at Elfstrom Stadium. The victory gives the Cougars 11 wins in 12 games to start the season and keeps them with at least a two-game lead atop the Western Division.
Geneva, IL - The Kane County Cougars (Class A affiliate of the Okland Athletics) home opener was a sunny, chilly one, not unlike most Illinois baseball home openers. With the wind blowing out, it looked to be a promising game. The Kane County Cougars (4-0) faced the Burlington Bees (2-2) with a great team pitching ERA of 2.25 and a team batting average of .266. Scott Mitchinson took the mound for the Cougars and opened the game with a strike, however the next pitch was driven into right center for a triple by #6 Adrian Ortiz.
