Chicago, IL. Long after the players have showered and left the locker room. The last few spectators head out the gates, and the clean up crew picks up the discarded debris, regardless how great the losing team might play in an incredible championship game such as this, as the years go by, fans only seem to remember the winner. That certainly won’t be the case for the more than 3,000 enthusiastic fans that were fortunate enough to be a part of the thrilling, forever memorable, 2008 IWFL National Championship.

Chicago Force - Eastern Conference ChampionsChicago, IL. ,The Force have become the ‘cardiac kids’, for the post season anyways, posting an identical 8-7 nail biting ,on the edge of your seat victory, this time against a talented Pittsburgh Passion (9-1) team. The win propels the Force to 10-0, and crowns the organization Eastern Conference Champions, and guarantees Chicago their first ever trip to the IWFL National Championship game at home, July 26, against the Western Conference winners, the Dallas Diamonds, who defeated the Seattle Majestics 38-6 last Saturday in Seattle WA.

Chicago, IL. Head Coaches are held accountable for their split second, often nerve wracking decisions. The college of second guessers can debate for years afterwards if the call turns out to be the wrong one. On Saturday at Holmgren Athletic Complex, after the Force scored with less than three minutes to go in regulation, Jim Stahl decided to go for the win and called for the two point conversion. It was the right decision as running back sensation Melissa Smith, lowered her head and followed her block by center Stacey Baker up the middle for a thrilling 8-7 victory over the Detroit Demolition.

Chicago Force - Womens Professional FootballThe NFL’s website defines football as: One 11-man team has possession of the football. It is called the offense and it tries to advance the ball down the field-by running with the ball or throwing it - and score points by crossing the goal line and getting into an area called the end zone. This definition, while mostly accurate, has one major flaw.
