Brian Urlacher now is happy and that's good news for the Chicago Bears defense. He and his "baby's momma" now has the assurance of more "sweet mula". Brian Urlacher signed a one-year extension worth $18 million. It includes a $6 million signing bonus, a $1 million raise in base salary from 2008 through 2011 and then $8 million in the final and new year of the deal in 2012.
Now that Brian Urlacher is happy, that means good things for the Chicago Bears. A happy Brian Urlacher = a happy Bears defense. The Chicago Bears defense, however will have to be a little more than happy this year if the team is to win games. The Chicago Bears defense will have to be the Beasts of the Midway with the way the offense is sizing up. There are too many question marks at the running back position and with the offensive line still somewhat old, the outlook for a great season are looking dim.
I do hate to speak before I get to see a little more evidence from their practices in Bourbonnais. Is there a dim hope, yes. Here's what could make that possible: There has been many talks of that man from Green Bay coming to Chicago and even though I really don't want to say his name, I will. Brett Favre. Yes, I said it! I grimace at the thought, but I also grimace at the thought of another year with the grimacing quarterbacks we already have. Would Brett Favre make this a better team? Yes. Is he the future of this team? I think not, however Brett Favre would give the Chicago Bears a legitimate chance at winning more games. I do have to say that there is something special about Brett Favre. The last time he took his team to the Super Bowl was the first time I had a "miraculous night", so if there's a chance that Brett could take the Chicago Bears to the Super Bowl, there's a chance I will be married too.
