Bolingbrook, Il – 8/6/08- Money Magazine recently ranked Bolingbrook as the #32 best city to live in the entire USA. There is a new mall, a new hospital and is also known as the tee-ball capital of the world. They also play a little football in Bolingbrook. Now when I say a “little” I am actually speaking literally. I had a chance to stop by a scrimmage game of the Bolingbrook Flag Football Colt Division (5-7 years of age).
This Cowboys team is headed up by Coaches Prue, Mike, Nick, and Nate. With the fall season season rapidly approaching, I just couldn’t help myself. There must have been over 300 kids running around the park district that day. Flag and Pop Warner. There was an abundance of cheerleaders as well. The proud moms and dads with their digital cameras in tow feverishly snapped pictures of their future superstars. And let me tell you, at this age, they are all superstars.
The coaches, who graciously volunteer their time to teach this fine game of football, were busy shifting players into their positions before the snap. The kids were having a great time. I saw some nervous moms with their hands over their mouths when their little tike hit the grass. Ahh, is there anything better?
This is the age when the game is just fun. It truly isn’t about who wins or loses at this level. Its is truly about having fun. And let me tell you sports fans… I had a blast out there. Bolingbrook really does well with its organized sports programs. It was a great atmosphere with great kids, coaches, parents and fans.
I took some snapshots of the tikes in action. Watch out now! You are looking at some future NFL players.

On a side note, the Bolingbrook Pop Warner Jr. Midget Trojans who are head coached by Dave Cameron, are dedicating their entire season to their founder John Herzog who died last year. God Bless!
